Julie:

Hello and welcome to All Things Travel. We've been discussing travel destinations that should be on your travel bucket list and today we have a few final suggestions of places that maybe you haven't thought of about adding to that list. So get ready to travel the world and don't miss out on these places. Happy New Year!

Ryan:

you said at the beginning we've really enjoyed these last couple episodes We've talked all about this quote unquote bucket list even though we don't like that term, but this bucket list travel, right? You know, we've talked about italy the u. s. National parks the maldives antarctica galapagos african safari but I wanted to make a list of some of the places that you may have left off that travel wish list that you really should consider, um, putting back on

Julie:

I love this idea. The lesser known wish

Ryan:

the lesser, now, all of these are places you've heard of. At least a couple of these should go back on that have to travel list. But I'm wondering, what's a part of the world, Julie, that we haven't talked about so far that interests you? Love Greece.

Julie:

this kind of ties into another one, but I would really love to go to Greece. I hear great things about Greece, and I think I would like to combine it with an Italy trip down the road.

Ryan:

Yep, that's very easy to do. Absolutely. In fact, the first time I went to Greece and Italy, those trips were combined.

Julie:

Exactly! See, that's an easy one

Ryan:

You want to plan a trip to an amazing destination but don't know how to get started? As your travel advisors, we work with you to create a customized itinerary for your vacation and take the stress out of planning so you can focus on the fun and creating those bucket list travel memories. You can reach me at ryan at creatingmagicvacations. com

Julie:

And you can reach me at Julie at creatingmagicvacations. com.

Ryan:

Obviously this list could be huge, because there's places all over the world that deserve to be on this travel wish list, right? When I was putting it together, I kind of wanted to come up with a variety of places. So, natural beauty, culture, adventure, what are some of those places you might not have thought about that should be there? And, oddly enough, the first one is Greece, what you just said.

Julie:

Whoa.

Ryan:

I have been to Greece twice. I've been to the mainland, Athens, and the Peloponnese Peninsula. And then my second trip, I was in Athens and I did a cruise through the Greek islands. This is an amazing country. Can I say that enough? This is an amazing country. The people are awesome. The culture is awesome. The food is awesome. They are so welcoming to tourists and visitors. It's cheaper than a lot of European trips. Any type of thing you want to see from history to culture to natural beauty Grease grease grease gotta do it.

Julie:

Some of my best friends have Greek heritage and they have been to Greece a couple of times and they are always. Dying to go back because they say all of those things, right? It is so beautiful. The people are so kind. They're so welcoming. I'm happy to hear you say that. I, really would love to go

Ryan:

If someone came to me and they said, we've done a little bit of european travel maybe we've gone to London, maybe we've gone to Ireland. Now we're ready to kind of venture into maybe a non English speaking place. Greece would be my 100%. To be honest, compared to Italy, more people speak English in Greece, I found in my experience than people did in Italy, as far as, you know, ease of tourism, if you will.

Julie:

And I will say I've been researching for the Italy cruise that I want to take in a couple of years. And even just compared to last year or the year before, the majority of their itineraries are now Italy and Greece. Whereas in the past, they've been a lot of Italy, Spain, and France. More of them are really going to more towards Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, that area,

Ryan:

I will tell you from my, from my Greek Isles cruise, when you see pictures of Santorini, with the, the hilltop cresting city with the blue domes, and you see the white buildings in Mykonos, those places look exactly like those photos. There is no photoshopping happening there. It is utterly amazing.

Julie:

Well, but if I went, I would Photoshop you into the picture.

Ryan:

course. Like, you would photoshop me carrying all of your luggage. That would be the picture. So, number two on the list. This is a city that I have talked about wanting to go to. Forever and that is Tokyo Because when I think of an exciting city tokyo is one of the top ones that come to mind But you also have this historic nature of japan's capital city and the Temples and the shrines for a Disney lover like me, you've got Disneyland Tokyo, just the idea of walking across that street that thousands of people walk across in an hour with all the signs flashing and the, the street food and the vendors and the excitement and the neon. I just, I'm so excited about going to

Julie:

I mean the street food. That sounds

Ryan:

Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. So Tokyo is my number two. Let's calm things down a little bit, okay? And number three is seeing the

Julie:

the one that has to calm down,

Ryan:

Okay, alright. Ha ha ha. It, pretty common, pretty common. So number three is seeing the Northern Lights. And you can see the Northern Lights from Canada, Alaska, Iceland, Greenland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. I chose Iceland just kind of in my description here because Iceland seems so unlike all these other places, you can only see certain things in Iceland, in Iceland, if that sentence is grammatically correct at all. But you know what I mean, right? It's so unique, so why not see the Northern Lights there? And bonus for seeing them from a hotel that has a dome. Roof so you can watch the northern lights from your bed. So the best time to see them is from late fall to early spring this would be phenomenal. I would love this trip

Julie:

that would be really fun.

Ryan:

number four Dubai I mean, again, talk about a city that embraces the new, exciting, over the topness with malls, and adventure excursions, and opulence, just doing everything, a thousand percent, that's Dubai.

Julie:

Yes.

Ryan:

And, what I will say is, depending on where you're traveling, so we've talked about the Maldives, we've talked about African Safari, Dubai is a pretty easy layover stop for that trip, so it's very easy to combine a couple days in Dubai to kind of see it all and then move on to the second part of your trip.

Julie:

a really popular thing, right, because a lot of flights will layover in Dubai. So you could say, well, let me just kind of cut out that that layover and just stay here for a couple days.

Ryan:

Yep, absolutely. Seriously, because for me, that's how I'm going to go to Dubai. I mean, there's probably going to be no other reason, why not build that in?

Julie:

Right? I don't think it's a place that you want to travel that far and then just stay a couple days and come

Ryan:

Yeah.

Julie:

Um, but you also don't need 10 days

Ryan:

Yeah.

Julie:

So I have like, I have clients doing that same thing, but with Thailand, they're flying to Thailand for about five days and then onto the Maldives for about a week.

Ryan:

Very cool. Well hey, I've got a few more to add to this list. But first, I've got a super exciting Where in the World is All Things Travel, Julie.

Julie:

Oh, where are we?

Ryan:

So, I went back to actually the last episode, and I was on the lookout for an international destination. And do you know the top one that popped up?

Julie:

Which one?

Ryan:

Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Julie:

very

Ryan:

and as we know in Brazil, what is one of their national pastimes?

Julie:

Soccer.

Ryan:

Soccer. So where I chose to meet our listener in Sao Paulo is the Museu do Futebol. And so it says, Besides telling the history of the Brazilian football, the football museum located at Passaimbau Stadium in Sao Paulo Foretells Brazil's history in a playful, fun, and very motion way, our visitors are going to understand the reason why football is within all of us. The museum has three pillars. Emotion, history, and having fun. So within all of those, you're learning about not only Brazil, But football and the culture of Brazilian football, I think that's a great thing to see in Sao Paulo, and I'm really excited to meet our listener there.

Julie:

Great. Okay.

Ryan:

thanks for listening to All Things Travel. Alright, the next spot, Julie, and again This is on my bucket list. This is a trip that I am definitely going to take and I was just talking to a client about this this week. That's a christmas market river cruise on the Danube So i'm thinking leaving from munich traveling to istanbul And all along the way you're stopping at these little cities and going to the Christmas markets where there's decorations and there's crafts and there's music and entertainment. There's spiced wine and all sorts of yummy foods. And it's just, the entire trip is based around celebrating Christmas in all of these little towns. And then, you get to end the cruise in Istanbul. So you've gone from very traditional Europe to very Eastern Europe. I think that sounds amazing.

Julie:

Right, because the best part about ending or starting those types of trips is you can add on to them, add on a couple of days in your starting city or your ending city.

Ryan:

absolutely. Number six on this list, and we've heard of this place before, so it's not going to be a surprise, Machu Picchu in Peru. So the historical ruins of the Incan Empire, set among breathtaking Andes. It's an unbelievable, life changing experience. And one of the things as I was researching this is, you can actually go by train or foot on a trip leading up to Machu Picchu, so it becomes kind of a destination on the trip rather than just kind of we're going here for the day, you're actually taking a trek leading up to it. Now, you had an idea that harkens back to last episode when we talked about the Galapagos.

Julie:

Yes. So when I was researching for the Galapagos, there was a couple itineraries I came across that combined that with Machu Picchu, which I mean, talk about like a real bucket list trip. Cross off two destinations in one trip.

Ryan:

My last one may not be one that you've thought about. So I say something that should be added on is Uluru. And you may know Uluru as a different name. This is Ayers Rock in Australia. Big giant formation of rock that is a sacred space for the indigenous folks that live in Australia. It's in Australia's Simpson Desert. You can take tours there. You can see everything. Uluru is one of the most notable landmarks in Australia. And it's particularly mesmerizing during dawn and sunset as it appears to change color. And during these times, Julie, it actually looks like it's glowing red. And it's just amazing.

Julie:

Wow.

Ryan:

I really, I don't know, this intrigued me, this spot.

Julie:

I think that's a really cool spot. And I also think, it opens you up to a whole nother side of the world.

Ryan:

Obviously with Australia, you're going to be heading around to different places, you're going to be seeing different destinations, but this would be something that would definitely be a place that I want to see.

Julie:

Very cool. We have a lot of travel to do,

Ryan:

So, which of these, I've given you seven ideas, Julie, which of these has piqued your interest the most?

Julie:

So I feel like I'm going to stick with what I said with Greece, because you really sold me on it there, Ryan. That, that Photoshop of you with my luggage.

Ryan:

Ha ha ha!

Julie:

truly, the way that you were describing your experiences in Greece, I can see myself there and really loving it.

Ryan:

That's awesome. Well hey listeners, I know we've talked about a lot of awesome destinations over the last couple weeks, but I bet we missed one or two that are on your list.
