k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Here we go.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:let's talk about upcoming things that we're excited about for All Things Travel in 2025, I know what my top one is. What
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:I'm gonna steal it. I'm gonna steal
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:all you steal it and you talk about it
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Okay, I'm excited for our very first podcast cruise this July on Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas. already booked your room to join us, That should be your resolution.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Absolutely reach out to us we also have an announcement pinned at the top of our Facebook page You can contact us on our website all things travel podcast calm We would love to have you with us and we have some really good pricing for this group. That's gonna have you excited about traveling on utopia of the seas Before we talk about travel resolutions, if you haven't, go back and listen to last week's show, because we talk about family travel to Costa Rica, which is one of the hottest travel destinations right now. So Julie, we often talk about resolutions when it comes to New Year's, but there's some really interesting travel resolutions that can help somebody vacation better, think about travel in a different way. So I thought today we would talk about some of these and then discuss which ones, do we think we're going to be doing in 2025.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Okay, I think the first one is to make sure you use all your vacation days, right?
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:it sounds so simple, but yet as a country, and I know we're speaking from the United States and not everybody that listens to all things travel by any means is from the United States, but people don't use their vacation time.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Yeah, and I think that that is probably only a United States problem, um, so focused on our work over But it is so that if you have those days off, please take them. And if it's a short amount of days off, couple it with a weekend or a holiday weekend and make the most of your time.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Absolutely. In fact, just a couple months ago, we did an episode on how to maximize a three or four day vacation. using those vacation days to your advantage. Use that time folks. it's something that you work for. So use it or lose it The second one is start a vacation savings account. So this could be something that rolls over so that you're accruing money over time so that when it's time to go on a vacation, you have it, or starting to think about that. Big trip that special bucket list trip, start putting money away because we know if you save over time, it makes it so much easier to pay for that vacation when it comes around
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:I also want to urge you to think about going to a new place on vacation whether it's a new local destination Or a new destination that's further away and a little a little bit out of comfort zone
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:I certainly understand that there's, you know, family traditions and places you like to go. I'm not saying don't do that, but think about taking a different vacation or checking out a different place. I think you'll really appreciate that in 2025 and to go along with that I would say, do one thing during travel. that. makes you a little uncomfortable. So you've heard me talk about this, Julie. You know, when you visit a new city or a new destination, be comfortably lost, right? you kind of know where you are, you're not lost per se, but you're, you're not necessarily looking for a specific destination. you're just enjoying your space, but do something that's uncomfortable. So maybe that's a different type of travel. Maybe that's going to a new destination. Maybe that's going on a friend trip with somebody that you never traveled with before
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:try learning some new words or phrases in a language. And maybe that's a language that's on your travel wish list for 2026. So in 2025 you start getting ready for that trip. Maybe we book your big trip to Italy or another destination in Europe. or Japan, somewhere in Asia,
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:traveling abroad, even just knowing simple phrases, Good morning, hello, thank you. I mean, those, courtesy phrases, if you will, makes a big difference traveling to a location with a different language.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Mm hmm.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:I want to talk about some more travel resolutions that will make you vacation better in 2025. But first, as always, I want to talk about where in the world is all things travel. So when I looked at new locations this week, a new one for us is Roanoke, Texas, and Roanoke, Texas is part of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, and it's a small town. it is known as get this Does this not sound like it's right up my alley? The unique dining destination of Texas.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:That's you.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Well, hey, listener, I'm going to let you choose the restaurant because it sounds like there's some great spots in Roanoke, Texas to have a good meal and a good time and talk about travel resolutions. So reach out to Julia or myself. You can do that on Facebook. via email or on our new website. allthingstravelpodcast. com I would love to send a little thank you gift all the way down to texas for being featured on the show and if you are a long time listener to all things travel I think we'll invite shane along too
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Ooh.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Okay, so going along with that, try a new food based on the location. So maybe you choose a destination because of the type of food that you like, or maybe you have a travel night for dinner with your family, and you make pizza together, or you make homemade sushi, maybe you do that kind of stuff. They get you ready for a trip, or maybe when you come back and, have new foods that you enjoy, you have a special meal based on that.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Alright, so next I want to encourage you to take that trip. The one that you've been putting off for the past couple years. Maybe you've been saving for it. Maybe you've just been trying not to think about it that much. But I know that you really want to go to Italy, or Japan, or Thailand, or Alaska. So let's start planning it and get it on the books. maybe you don't go in 2025, but we plan it and you're going in
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:You know, we always tell people plan early, have it on the books so you can look forward to it, you can pay for it over time, you have the time to plan. Why not get something that you're excited about on the books so this is a new one, Julie, try a different form of travel. So maybe, for me this year, I've been taking more road trips and have been really enjoying that. Or maybe if you're in a place where you can do train travel or, you know, take a ferry as part of your trip, try a different form of travel, just to get out of your, your mindset and seeing the world in a different way.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:maybe if you're not trying a different form of travel as a means of getting there, you're trying a different form of travel as in who is traveling with you. And maybe think about traveling solo. Maybe it's a local destination if it's your first time going solo. But traveling solo, really you learn a lot about yourself, your interests, and it's just a really great way to
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:really like when I take solo trips. it just, to be honest, I don't have to be on anybody else's schedule. I can decide when and how I want to do things. It doesn't mean that I travel solo for the entire trip. Maybe it's, getting there to meet or, a few years ago after our agency meeting, I spent a few days at a beach community, just kind of decompressing by myself. it's having that solo time to just relax and do what you want to do and how you want to do it.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:Mm hmm. Yeah, that, sounds really lovely in
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:I know you're looking at me like, uh, if only I could do that. I'm like, Julie, I do this all the time and it's absolutely fantastic. All right, so I really like this one. Um, start a travel journal, maybe a photo album, either an online album or, or a real album. Maybe you do a travel blog. Maybe you like to talk about the best, uh, Pretzel that you get every time you travel or the best donut on your vacation. Why not try a blog with that? You know, those are all over the place or a youtube channel or even do a travel podcast like all things travel julie why not just
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:What an idea. What
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Just start writing down your ideas and it makes travel more fun when you kind of have a focus we have a friend at the agency. He loves pizza So every place he goes he tries the pizza and he's had pizza all over the world, right?
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:That's pretty cool.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:this one's hard for us as travel advisors, but let's talk about this last travel resolution.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:try a little less social media during travel. I know a lot of people travel to get that perfect Instagram shot that they see and they want to get the perfect family photo, But maybe take that photo and then. put your phone down. You don't need to post it right away. You honestly, safety reasons. Maybe don't post so much during your trip so everyone knows you're gone. a little bit more involved where you are. Be a little more present with who you're traveling with, where you're traveling. It is such a pet peeve of mine when I see people, are glued to an iPad or a tablet or a phone,
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:There's a time and a place for social media, and I like your idea of take the picture and then post it later. You don't have to do that right now. It's not going to change your your post algorithm in any way. get the picture, enjoy where you are, deal with it later. So as we wrap up, Julie, which of these are you going to try to prioritize more in 2025?
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:I'm going to talk about two. The first is going to be starting a vacation savings account, Ryan, because if you've been following all Things Travel, I have been all over the place. in 2024. And the second one is really that less social media during travel. I think that's something we can all implement on a daily basis, but especially during travel, it feels so much more fulfilling when you're more present.
ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041:Well, I am going to take one of yours and I am starting to put money away specifically for travel, both for my business and personally. So that's something that as part of my business, because of the types of trips that I love to plan and book, I am actually, going to be starting a river cruise focused YouTube channel.
k_1_11-24-2024_202041:that actually fits there with number 10, doesn't it? you want to plan a trip to an amazing destination in 2025, but you don't know how to get started.
